One can't really dispute the benefits of green tea or cranberry as they have been known since the ancient times. The efficacy of policosanol will be denied simply because it is efficient. It has happened to many substances that are inexpensive. E.g. the role of vitamin D3 in the etiology and/or treatment of many diseases had been underestimated for a long time until it was no longer possible. I know about the efficacy of policosanol from my own experience which I don't want to discuss here for the privacy considerations. I also know from my own experience about the side effects of statins. The Wikipedia text that you have cited contains three lines on studies on policosanol. Read the paper that I have referred to and check out the data tables.
